As new digital highways emerge in the 21st Century, medical banking channels promise to save over $35 billion annually. According to the American Hospital Association, that's $14 billion more than what hospitals spent for uncompensated care in 2001! Given these metrics, can we convert digital savings into charitable resources? We think so...and that's why we organized a unique speaking series. The Great American Interoperability Tour™ offers a vision for the future of healthcare. Even as healthcare stakeholders busily implement HIPAA transactions, the forward focus is turning towards interoperability. EDI transactions and other technologies will support our collective vision of reduced claims processing costs by automating myriad data exchanges between stakeholders. Together we can convert digital savings into charitable resources! Look forward to seeing you on Tour!! --MBProject Staff Tour Summary Our Tour progressively outlined how medical banking fits within the broader context of cost-cutting industry initiatives. Medical banking principles were presented to 10 major stakeholders during speaking engagements ("Stops") located throughout the country. A web page corresponding to each stakeholder was implemented offering unique insight, White Papers and other information (available to Members). The need for interoperability among banks and healthcare is accelerating - especially as new models use proven and secure bank networks for healthcare. New touch points include card systems that access electronic records, efficiently establishing connections among physicians, medical kiosks that merge healthcare and financial functions and other areas. In fact, the concept of interoperability in healthcare is being refined by ATM operating rules for eligibility and much more! We've greatly enjoyed our Tour and hope that it helped to uncover how consumers can enjoy better healthcare using bank IT! After our 24 month HIPAA Policy Roundtable series that laid the groundwork for HIPAA privacy and security in banking channels, re-focusing the national dialogue to the benefits of bank involvement in electronic healthcare was our goal. Based on the response to our Third National Medical Banking Institute the effort was well worth it!
CCN is a unique resource that leverages HIPAA's transactions to help care givers gain access to charitable and faith-based funds earmarked for healthcare, plus much more! (See the Development Site). It has become our driving mission - to convert digital savings into charitable resources here in America and across the globe. Our forward focus is now on drafting A Medical Banking Road Map for America, the first report of its kind to inform policy and commerce. We are getting multiple stakeholder feedback and reporting findings via our new SOMBEX Leadership Forum. We will also continue to establish Charitable Communities NetworkT as a global resource for "Building Happier Communities!" TOUR SCHEDULE
