Cyberwar Workgroup

Mission

Identify potential wartime and/or terrorism threats to critical infrastructure in medical payment channels and support or develop a “Medical Banking ISAC” in conjunction with government authorities

Goals

  • Started via request from White House
  • Involves lockbox fraud, unauthorized use of PHI for blackmail or other purposes, identity fraud (posing as a physician to receive Medicare dollars), charity fraud, other areas

Leadership

Leader: Rex Brooks, President & CEO, Starbourne Communications Design

Accomplishments

  • Working Paper has been developed, scrutinized by industry experts, edited and posted in the Medical Banking Research Portal.
  • Cyberwar WG has agreed to support team of researchers at Johns Hopkins that will form a new institute with prospective funding from the National Science Foundation. The Institute will research risks to critical infrastructure in medical and banking complex, as well as other areas.
