In the May - July 2008 Edition...
As the management of health data progressively moves to an electronic platform, banks are finding that their technical systems, privacy and security frameworks, identity management engines and marketing channels can be leveraged to fast forward eHealth strategy. Banks are evolving in four key areas that collectively comprise the rise of a "bank infomediary". This area promises to create new business-to-business and business-to-consumer services that have the potential to revolutionize transaction costs, access and even quality of healthcare. This report explores some of the areas of opportunity in a quickly evolving area called "medical banking". The author uses concrete examples to illustrate how medical banking is gaining prominence among best practices in healthcare financial management. MBProject's Deductible Engine Pilot Improves Workgroup Programs In 2006, a focus group at the Medical Banking Project convened in Atlanta, GA, to discuss how the industry could implement real time claims processing in healthcare using banking systems. The effort came under the banner of the "C.O.M.B.A.T. Initiative", an effort by MBProject to focus its growing membership on real time administrative and clinical solutions in healthcare. |
