Lee Barrett
Mr. Barrett previously served as CEO of MBEXX, (acquired by Metavante) and Director of Healthcare Practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers along with national colleagues William Braithewaite, M.D. Ph.D., ("Dr. HIPAA") and Tom Hanks. Over the past 20 years he has lead eHealth commerce efforts in various senior executive capacities at SAIC, Covansys, Aetna and Travelers. Mr. Barrett founded Barrett Consulting Group, LLC., (BCG) an e-health think-tank that helped to facilitate public/private EDI demonstration projects funded by state governments, The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and other organizations. BCG also worked with the Association for Electronic Healthcare Transactions (AFEHCT) to launch an accreditation body for healthcare clearinghouses (i.e. EHNAC), formulated EDI strategy for the Massachusetts Health Data Consortium and lead a global team that assessed the adaptation and implementation of Managed Care in emerging international digital economies with a focus in South Africa for United Healthcare. Mr. Barrett's industry work includes Board of Directors for the American Dental Association; Executive Director for the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC); Chair, Society of Medical Banking Excellence; past-Chair, Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI) where he organized the launch of the WEDI SNIP (Strategic National Implementation Program); and past-Chair of ANSI ASC X12N. He is a member of MB Project's "HIPAA Gang", an expert panel which provided commentary on HIPAA's impact on financial and healthcare stakeholders during a nationally broadcast HIPAA Policy Roundtable policy webcast series from 2001-2003. Mr. Barrett continues to work on key eHealth industry initiatives. He brings divergent stakeholders together in an effort to reach consensus on key issues and lay the foundation for a national healthcare information system that promises to reduce healthcare costs in America. |
