Title:  Your Bank and the Emerging Medical Consumer Segment

Session Focus/Summary:

The consumer-directed marketplace has found its voice.  It is estimated that over the next few years over $1 trillion in deposits will be placed into specialized Health Savings Accounts.  Among the supporters of this new health plan format is the White House, the Treasury Department and others.  As technical issues resolve (IRS regulations) more health plans are offering the HSA format.  This session features an overview of how HSAs work...and the increased need for health and medical education for employees.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Review the development of the consumer-directed marketplace, starting from HIPAA's MSA to the latest evolution - Health Savings Account
  1. Identify new opportunities for banks, TPAs and Health Plans
  1. Discuss new health and medical information needs by medical consumers and what's being done to help
