The Working Process at the Medical Banking Institute

Development of Draft Working Papers

From 2001-2004, the Medical Banking Project organized a series of educational forums to isolate cross-industry opportunities between financial institutions and the healthcare industry (see roundtables, telebriefings, Institutes). This resulted in the formation of five broad areas of focus:

  1. Improving operational efficiencies in healthcare administration
  2. Compliance and public trust
  3. Improving liquidity in healthcare
  4. Improving healthcare access
  5. Identifying potential threats to our national healthcare system

These areas form the basis for our five workgroups. Each have evolved separately through collaboration with industry groups, government and others. MBProject aggregated work in an online portal and from this, created an action template for each workgroup. This was modified in 2004 during online workgroup meetings (see workgroup schedule). From this effort, Draft Working Papers were developed. Abstracts of these papers are provided in PDF format below.

Facilitation

The Vanderbilt Center for Better Health will facilitate our working sessions. Coupled with workgroup leaders and subject matter experts, workgroups will complete assignments that result in a series of final observations and/or industry recommendations.

Workgroup Reports

Each Workgroup Leader will provide a 30 minute report on the workgroup mission and objectives, industry risks and opportunities and the Final Recommendations achieved during the working sessions. This will occur during the afternoon sessions on Friday, February 25.

Final recommendations will be placed into a document - A Medical Banking Road Map for America - that will be provided to government officials. We look forward to working with you to impact the medical banking industry at our Institute.
